Kericho County Senator Aaron Cheruiyot has responded to former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, following his continuous criticism of the government.
Cheruiyot argued that Gachagua was impeached because he could not deliver on his mandates, and hence should not pose threats to President William Ruto. He further added that Gachagua’s short-lived leadership disqualifies him from dictating what Ruto should do before the next election.
“Stop your threats, former DP. You keep saying President Ruto will only serve one term, yet you did not even complete one yourself. You only served for a quarter term and failed to deliver to Kenyans. So, sit back and relax as you are taught how Kenya should be governed,” Cheruiyot stated.
This follows Gachagua's recent and increasing push for Ruto’s one-term presidency, with Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, NARC-Kenya’s Martha Karua, and DAP-Kenya’s Eugene Wamalwa echoing similar sentiments. These political heavyweights cite rising cases of abductions, extrajudicial killings, and the 'deteriorating' economy as some of the key reasons why the current administration should not be re-elected. However, despite mounting criticism, President Ruto and his allies have remained defiant, asserting that he will serve two full terms to fulfil his development agenda for Kenyans.
