SHOCK AS CLEOPHAS MALALA ARRESTED IN NAIROBI

Former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has been arrested for allegedly scripting the drama play "Echoes of War." In a video posted on his official social media account on Wednesday, April 9, Malala expressed his dismay, stating that over 50 police officers were involved in his arrest. He questioned the officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) about the reasons for his apprehension, emphasizing that he was being detained merely for writing a play. Malala remarked, "It has reached a point in Kenya where I get arrested for writing a play, and they come with fifty police officers. What crime have I committed by writing a play script?"

"Echoes of War" was performed by Butere Girls High School during the high school Drama and Film Festivals. Despite the school's commendable performance—winning at the Butere Sub-County level and securing third place at the Western Regional Drama Festivals—the play was controversially dropped from the Western Regional winners’ gala. Subsequently, the school's drama club members were sent home, halting preparations for the national event.
