Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna on Saturday launched a direct attack on President William Ruto, accusing him of mismanaging the country and creating avoidable challenges within his administration.
Sifuna was speaking during the burial of George Oduor, the longtime bodyguard of ODM leader Raila Odinga, in an event attended by top Azimio la Umoja leaders.
In his remarks, the senator referenced the ongoing “Echoes of War” controversy, suggesting the President was losing control of his government.
"Like the Bishop mentioned, your job is very hard, and I agree with him because at some point I usually wonder if you get to sleep," said Sifuna. "However, there are some difficulties you have imposed on yourself. Like the drama we saw in Nakuru where Butere Girls' High School students were stopped from performing — that’s a problem you have created yourself."
The senator also urged President Ruto to respect constitutional provisions, particularly on the disbursement of funds to political parties.
"As leaders, we must obey the law. The funds allocated to political parties should be released as required by the Constitution," he added.
Sifuna’s remarks come amid rising political tensions and mounting criticism of the Kenya Kwanza administration's handling of recent national issues.
