SIFUNA MOCKS RUTO OVER REMARKS ON HANDING POWER

Nairobi Senator and ODM'S Secretary General, Edwin Sifuna has taken another cryptic onslaught against President Ruto, following his Sunday remarks of not handing power over to 'planless' individuals.

Just a day, Sifuna highlighted that those remarks were not new to Kenyans— in stating this, he recalled a campaign period in 2022, where some individuals stated that President Uhuru Kenyatta would never hand power to a thief ( referring to Ruto, who was then DP, but indifferent to his boss, President Uhuru).

This was a period after a Uhuru -Raila handshake, that saw President Uhuru and his deputy part ways, Uhuru preferring Raila for Presidency over his DP , Ruto, whom they termed as corrupt and a thief.

"In 2022, some of our then 'powerful' friends told us they cannot hand over power to a thief. Maneno haya si mageni (these are not new things)," he stated on Monday,16.

Speaking in a Sunday Service in Kakamega, the President had slammed the opposition terming them as without an agenda and expressing his dissatisfaction with their 'Ruto Must Go' slogan.

“Those other people (opposition) have no plan, and we cannot hand over to people who have no plan. Their plan is 'Ruto Must Go', how will that help?" he posed.

"They have no idea how the youth will get employment; they have no idea how agriculture will progress or how children will access education, " he added.

The remarks met a backlash from Kenyans and opposition leaders . Martha Karua, the leader of the People's Liberation Party (PLP) joined the bandwagon, stating that an incumbent handing power to an elected is not a choice but a constitutional mandate.

"Handing over after elections is mandatory, not optional," she took to her X page.

Sifuna's recent remarks follows other spree of attacks against the government, in and without the broad-based government, over the recent death of social media influencer, Albert Ojwang.

This controversial death has substantially marred the broad-based marriage.
