SUSPECT OF MP WERE'S ASSASSINATION ARRESTED.

A suspect associated with the tragic murder of Kaspul MP, Charles Were has been apprehended by the detectives on Sunday , 4, May, morning in Nairobi.

The detectives arrested the alleged after systematically tracking the car which was involved in the incident.

The assailants had used this car to escape from the scene after the shooting near City Mortuary along Valley Road.

This very car and the suspect has been captured on security cameras near Parliament Building, City Hall Way, Wabera Street, Kenyatta Avenue, Jakaya Kikwete Road, Argwings Kodhek Road and Valley Road, the same route the late MP had used before he was shot four times at a close range.

Mohamed Amin, the Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), confirmed that the arrest of this one suspect would provide the needed closure for more.
“We have one key suspect and we are looking for more,” he said.

He added that they had the suspect to hand over the killer weapon, state the motive behind the act, reveal his accomplices and the used motorcycle .

The detectives relied in the CCTV footages and the account from Were's bodyguard.

Thursday, marked the climax of the investigations where the detectives discovered that the MP left Parliament about 6.15 p.m., accompanied by his driver and bodyguard.

His vehicle was seen heading towards City Hall Way but stopped along Wabera Street, where his bodyguard briefly stepped out, to deposit an alleged sum of Ksh 20,000 for the MP.

CCTV footages captured a man on hoodie and carrying a bag, monitoring the car. The MP's car was also spotted leaving the area at 7:19 to join Kenyatta Avenue.

The driver later drove upto Valley Road, where there was traffic, not knowing they are being monitored.

This same man, who was captured monitoring the car on Wabera Street was allegedly seen on a sports bike following Were's vehicle closely . Upon reaching the traffic stop at 7:40 the suspect withdrew from the bike, headed towards the MP's car shooting him on the chest and hand.
He then ran to the sport bike and ran, however, Were's bodyguard who was caught unaware jumped into pursuing the assailants but they were long gone.

They just had to rush the MP , who was in utter pain , to the hospital where he was reportedly pronounced dead on arrival.
