The National Treasury, through the State Department for Economic Planning, has announced a mass recruitment drive for 244 permanent and pensionable positions targeting qualified economists and statisticians.
According to a statement released Tuesday July 22, 2025, the government is seeking to fill the positions of Senior Economist/Statistician (CSG 8), offering monthly salaries ranging between KSh 52,000 and KSh 96,130, along with generous allowances including KSh 35,000 for housing and KSh 8,000 for commuting.
Applicants must possess at least three years’ experience in an equivalent role and hold a bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, or related fields. A certificate in computer applications and membership in a relevant professional body are also mandatory.
Duties for the role include policy development, economic forecasting, monitoring national development plans, and preparing sectoral reports. Successful candidates will be tasked with supporting both national and county-level economic planning initiatives.
All applications must be submitted using the official PSC Form 2 (Revised 2016) and delivered to the State Department by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. Hand-delivered, email, and postal submissions will be accepted. The Treasury has warned against any form of canvassing, adding that fake documents will lead to immediate disqualification.
This recruitment marks one of the largest recent job announcements from the public sector and is expected to boost capacity in Kenya’s economic planning framework.
