United Democratic Alliance (UDA) officials have met Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni’s led party, the National Resistance Movement (NRM), in what was termed as an effort to strengthen political ties.
The UDA team, led by the party Secretary General Hassan Omar will be in Kampala for one week, where they will engage their NRM counterparts in discussing matters of mutual interest to the two parties and the friendly countries.
“The UDA team is later today expected to be taken on a tour of the NRM Leadership Academy, even as the party plans to put up a similar institution,” Omar said.
On Friday, the UDA delegation will be hosted by NRM National Chairman, Uganda President Museveni.
This comes weeks after UDA merged with Amani National Congress to form the United Democratic Party. The merger event held at State House, Nairobi, was witnessed by President Ruto and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
Mudavadi ceded ANC's party leadership position to Timamy upon his inclusion into the Kenya Kwanza government.
UDA chairperson Cecily Mbarire assured that the new party will not lock out any part of the country.
