Unga Group Plc has announced a series of key leadership changes aimed at strengthening its governance and strategic direction.
In a statement released on Monday 4 August, 2025, the company confirmed the appointment of Kinya Kimotho as an Independent Non-Executive Director, effective August 1, 2025. Kimotho brings with her vast experience from the corporate finance world, having held senior roles at both Diageo and East African Breweries Limited (EABL).
At the same time, Vitalis Ondeke Ojode, a longstanding member of Unga’s board, has officially retired after serving the company for 22 years. The company lauded Ojode for his dedication and contributions to the board over two decades.
The changes follow another major development earlier this year when James Nyutu was confirmed as Group Managing Director, effective July 1, 2025. Nyutu had been serving in an acting capacity since June 2024 and previously held the position of Group Finance and ICT Director.
Unga Group stated that these leadership changes are part of a broader effort to enhance its corporate governance and drive long-term growth across its business divisions. The company remains one of Kenya’s oldest and most established food processing firms.
