Unga Group PLC has reported a strong rebound to profitability in the year ended June 30, 2025, posting a net profit of KSh222.06 million compared to a net loss of KSh669.58 million a year earlier.
The flour milling and food products company attributed the turnaround to higher revenues and lower finance costs. Revenue rose to KSh26.13 billion, up from KSh23.70 billion in 2024, while operating profit surged to KSh699.58 million, reversing an operating loss of KSh71.98 million.
Finance costs fell to KSh394.58 million from KSh529.41 million, further boosting the bottom line. Earnings per share climbed to KSh1.73, compared to a negative KSh5.94 in the previous financial year.
Total assets grew to KSh11.89 billion, with equity attributable to shareholders rising to KSh3.49 billion from KSh3.03 billion in 2024.
Despite the improved performance, the Board announced that no dividend will be paid for the year.
Of the total profit, KSh131.33 million was attributable to equity holders of the parent company, while KSh90.73 million went to non-controlling interests.
The results mark a major recovery for the company, which had faced a challenging 2024 marked by higher costs and depressed earnings.
