We Are Kenyan: Kuria Community Rejects Tanzanian Identity Claims.

The Kuria community has strongly condemned the attempt to distort their identify by falsely asserting that they are not Kenyans, but rather Tanzanians.

This comes after the remarks made by Imrudik MP Hon. Johanna Ngeno, referred to Kuria people as Tanzanians, accusing them of possessing illegal firearms and made contentious claims regarding the Angata-Baragoi land saga.

Speaking to press, Kibiriti Paul, a representative of the Kuria community, condemns the claims saying that the Kuria's are recognized citizens of Kenya and any claims suggesting otherwise are misleading and affront to their dignity.

"We strongly condemn any attempts to distort our identity by falsely asserting that the Kuria's are Tanzanians. The Kuria people are an integral part of Kenya with a rich heritage, deep roots and a longstanding contribution to the development of this nation."

The Kuria's are asking Hon. Ngeno to offer them an apology for his his offensive and unfold claims, stating that every ethnic group migrate from somewhere not forgetting his own, the kalenjins who migrated from Sudan.

"If the government cannot protect Kuria's lives and lands, then we demand that our land be ours and people be officially integrated to Tanzania by extending the international boundary to include our central land in the Rift Valley," said Kibiriti.

Kiberiti states that the Kuria's have endured systematic marginalization far too long suggesting could be a reason why Hon. Ngeno referred to them as Tanzanians, challenging the President William Ruto, to commit to greater inclusion of the Kuria people in national leadership and opportunities.

"On the current regime, not a single Kuria has been appointed as a CEO in any state corporation and this could be the contributory reasons Hon. Ngeno could be calling us the Tanzanians. As the President prepares to visit our region this weekend, we challenge him to commit to greater inclusion of the Korea people in national leadership and opportunities."
