National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has revealed the details of his meeting with the European Union Election Follow-up Mission.

Wetang’ula, in a statement shared via his official social media accounts on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, said that he had hosted the delegation led by its head, Ivan Stefaner, in his office at Parliament Buildings.

The former Bungoma Senator says the meeting sought to review the progress made in enhancing democracy, particularly in the electoral processes, to encourage active participation of special interest groups such as youth and women.

“Hosted a delegation of the European Union Election Follow-up Mission led by its head, Mr. Ivan Stefaner, in my office at Parliament Buildings. The meeting sought to review the progress made in enhancing democracy, particularly in the electoral processes to encourage active participation of special interest groups such as youth and women,” Wetang’ula stated.

During the meeting, Wetang’ula informed the EU team of the advances made by the country in strengthening the political participation of women and youth.

He cited the need for political parties to review their policies and ensure they give support to the vulnerable groups and enable them to contribute to the management and running of affairs in the country.
