AMORIM'S UNITED TEAR THROUGH BOURNEMOUTH 4-1 AS HOJLUND SHINES IN CHICAGO SHOWDOWN

Manchester United continued their impressive pre-season run with a commanding 4-1 victory over Bournemouth in the Premier League Summer Series at Soldier Field, Chicago.

Despite missing key forwards Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, United showed no signs of slowing down. Rasmus Hojlund opened the scoring with a well-timed header, setting the tempo for the match. Patrick Dorgu doubled the lead before the break, capitalising on a quick free-kick move involving Mason Mount.

In the second half, Amad Diallo extended the advantage with a composed low finish before substitute Ethan Williams found the net just a minute after coming on, marking a dream moment for the youngster.

Bournemouth managed a late consolation after Matthijs de Ligt accidentally turned the ball into his own net past Tom Heaton, but it was far from enough to dent United’s dominance.

This latest win follows United’s 2-1 triumph over West Ham in their opening Summer Series fixture. A victory against Everton in their final match will secure them the tournament title.

United boss Ruben Amorim praised the intensity and tactical maturity of his side, noting significant improvements from last season. He singled out Hojlund’s influence, not just for his goals but his ability to link play and hold up the ball under pressure.

There were notable signs that Amorim’s philosophy is beginning to take hold. The fluid interplay between Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount, and Dorgu’s growing impact down the left, suggest a squad increasingly comfortable in their roles.

While it remains pre-season, the cohesion and clarity of United’s play marks a clear shift from the inconsistencies of the past. With or without their new signings, Amorim’s side is showing promising signs of a turnaround.
