In what has been termed as the Battle of Egos, US President, Donald Trump and his now former advisor, Elon Musk have went bare knuckled exchanging blows of insults at each other.
The feud escalated after the tech mogul, Musk, took to his social media, slamming Trump's budgeting policies.
In a sharp rejoinder, Trump enhanced that he was "disappointed" with Musk's criticisms of his domestic policies, hinting at possible termination of their "great relationship".
The world's richest man followed taking Trump down , accusing him of"ingratitude", adding: "Without me, Trump would have lost the election," Elon tweeted.
However, the previous was just a summary of the latter. The time bomb which was set to explode on Thursday, 5, June begun tickling after days of Musk blasting what was dubbed as Trump's "big, beautiful" spending bill, which was passed by the US House last month , yet to be voted in by the Senate.
"Disgusting abomination, Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong," Musk posted in his official X page, terming the bill as the recipe for increased national debt –thus asking his followers to contact their leaders to hamper the controversial bill.
"I'm very disappointed because Elon knew the inner workings of this bill better than almost anybody sitting here. All of a sudden he had a problem," Trump fired at Elon during a news conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Thursday.
The US head of state went on stating that Musk was vexed over the removal of subsidies and mandates for electric vehicles, which could inturn affect his Tesla company.
Musk followed with a ravaging comeback , "Keep the EV/solar incentive cuts in the bill, even though no oil & gas subsidies are touched (very unfair!!), but ditch the MOUNTAIN of DISGUSTING PORK in the bill" ( Pork is a US political jargon describing wasteful spending to suit a specific, elite clique).
The tech mogul further took credit for Trump's November victory, he allegedly sponsored the Republican bid with a whooping $290m. "Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate," Musk wrote.
"Such ingratitude," he continued.
"Is it time to create a new political party in America that actually represents the 80% in the middle?" Musk went on creating an online poll to depopularize the president.
He further went lethal calling for Trump's resignation, over his global tariff plan which would allegedly trigger a US recession. His accusations trickled down to relating Trump to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who was arrested in July 2019 on charges of sex trafficking and died by suicide while awaiting trial.
However, The White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt , dismissed the claims linking them to Musk's frustrations on the bill; "This is an unfortunate episode from Elon, who is unhappy with the One Big Beautiful Bill because it does not include the policies he wanted."
Trump , who had grew silent for sometime , resurfaced with a damning tweet on his Truth Social network, " (Elon) just went CRAZY" , "The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon's Governmental Subsidies and Contracts. I was always surprised that Biden didn't do it!"
The drama grew sour as Musk declared the withdrawal of his company, SpaceX from its role, with NASA , in shuttling people and supplies to the space, "Space X will begin decommissioning its Dragon spacecraft immediately."
The unfolding rendered Musk's Telsa a victim after its stock dropped by 14% ,within the scuffles time bracket.
