An arrest warrant has been issued by a Milimani court for social media influencer Francis Gaitho after he repeatedly failed to appear for his court proceedings. Senior Principal Magistrate Robinson Ondieki approved the warrant on June 30, 2025, following a request by prosecutors who highlighted Gaitho’s persistent absence. The case which is now adjourned to July 14, 2025, related to charges against Gaitho for allegedly spreading false information on social media. He was initially arrested in July 2024 in connection with public unrest tied to the protests. He is accused of posting false claims on his X account, suggesting that the DCI has arrested the wrong suspect in the Kware murder case.
The Kware murder involved the discovery of multiple women’s bodies in Nairobi’s Kware area. Police had named Collins Jumaisi as the main suspect, claiming he confessed to the killings. However, Jumaisi escaped from Gigiri Police Station and as of now he has not been rearrested and his whereabouts remain unknown. According to the charge sheet, on July 15,2024, Gaitho shared misleading information that prosecutors argued could have distorted public perception and interfered with justice.
He also faced a second charge for falsely accusing an innocent person, with the prosecution asserting that he knew his post could endanger the individual. Gaitho had earlier pleaded not guilty and was released on a Ksh30,000 cash bail. His repeated failure to attend court has now forced authorities to take stricter measures to ensure his appearance.
