CRUCIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR KENYANS WHO WANT TO JOIN THE US MILITARY AND EARN KSH 300,000 MONTHLY

Kenyans have the chance to serve in the United States military, where new recruits can earn a basic monthly salary of up to Ksh 300,000, but to qualify, individuals must already possess U.S. permanent residency (Green Card). Joining the U.S. armed forces requires one to meet the age limit, have the necessary education qualifications, be physically fit, and pass an entry exam. According to the current recruitment policies, both U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents are eligible to enlist. Non-citizens must be fluent in English and already living legally in the U.S. The military does not offer enlistment as a pathway to enter the U.S. or obtain a visa. Each military branch has its own age requirements:

·        Air Force &Space Force: 17-42 years

·        Army: Up to 35 years

·        Navy& Coast Guard: Up to 41 years

·        Marine Corps: Up to 28 years

All applicants must take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB), an exam used to determine enlistment eligibility and job placement. Recruiters evaluate each applicant’s background before taking the test, including marital status, health, education, drug use, and criminal history. ASVAB testing is conducted at Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS). There are 65 MEPS locations across the US and Puerto Rico. To qualify for enlistment, candidates must hold at least a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) face limited opportunities unless they have some collage education or achieve high ASVAB scores.

Applicants interested in becoming officers must have a four-year college degree. Officers are typically assigned to leadership or specialized roles that require advanced education such as medical, legal, or religious services. Military salaries are determined by pay grades, which reflect rank and responsibility. For example, an 0-1 is a newly commissioned officer, while an 0-10 represents a senior officer such as a general. A senior enlisted member at the E-9 pay grade serving in a top leadership position earns $10,758 per month (Ksh 1.3 million), regardless of years of service. Service members placed on terminal leave after completing duty in such a role are eligible to receive this higher pay rate for up to 60 days. If they are hospitalized during or right after service, the higher pay may continue for up to 180 days, provided they have served on active duty for at least four months.
