EDWIN OBUYA AND EMMANUEL TOO ELECTED UNOPPOSED TO LEAD KENYA PARLIAMENTARY JOURNALISTS ASSOCIATION

Edwin Obuya and Emmanuel Too have been elected as Secretary General and Organizing Secretary, respectively, of the Kenya Parliamentary Journalists Association (KPJA), following a decisive and largely uncontested election held on Wednesday. Obuya, a seasoned parliamentary journalist, clinched the Secretary General role unopposed after gaining strong early support, which led his opponents to step aside before the final vote. In his acceptance remarks, Obuya thanked the association’s members for their trust and confidence, describing his unopposed election as a powerful endorsement.

“I’m truly grateful for the faith you’ve placed in me to serve this great association. Being elected unopposed is a profound show of confidence, and I commit to serving you to the best of my ability,” he said. He also called for unity within the association, urging members to work together to advance KPJA’s welfare and impact.

Emmanuel Too, who entered the race for Organizing Secretary early on, also faced no challengers. Upon being declared elected, he expressed appreciation to members and promised to serve with integrity. “Thank you to everyone who supported my candidacy. I’m humbled by the trust you’ve shown in me and look forward to working hard to achieve our common goals,” he said. Too later echoed his commitment on social media, posting: “Ready to serve with humility.”

The newly elected officials will serve a two-year term, set to run until 2027. KPJA is the official body representing journalists covering proceedings in Kenya’s bicameral Parliament.
