FAHIMA ARAPHAT ABDALLAH ELECTED IEBC VICE CHAIRPERSON

The newly sworn-in Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has elected Fahima Araphat Abdallah as the Vice Chairperson of the commission.
The announcement was made on Friday, July 11, during the commission’s inaugural 288th plenary meeting held shortly after the commissioners officially took office.
IEBC Chairperson Erastus Edung Ethekon, who was also sworn in earlier in the day alongside six other commissioners, presided over the plenary session where Abdallah emerged as vice chair.
Fahima brings extensive experience in governance and public administration, having served as a County Executive Committee (CEC) member in Lamu and a ward administrator. Her appointment is seen as a step toward strengthening the commission’s leadership ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The newly constituted IEBC now begins its work of restoring public confidence in the electoral process and preparing for key electoral milestones.
