FROM ECHOES TO WAR; PROF. NGUNYI'S TAKE

Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has given a provocative reflection of the 2027 general elections through a post on his official X. His reflection compares 2027 to 2007, stating that the script of those two election seasons are in tandem.

The Kenya Fort Hall School boss compared President Ruto’s current position to that of the late President Kibaki in 2007, highlighting that both experienced intense public rage over the issue of increased taxation . He also noted the chant “Kibaki must go" relating it to the most recent "Ruto must go" chant, referring to them as the pace setters of violence.

He also pointed out opposition figures like the ODM Secretary General, Edwin Sifuna and former UDA Secretary General, Cleophas Malala as an upcoming force to reckon with ahead of the 2027 elections. He said this asking how President Ruto will use the 'OLD map ' to get to the 'NEW lands ' , how will Ruto manage these two individuals ?

Refering to the Butere Girls controversial play, 'Echoes of War', Ngunyi addressed Sifuna, deducing that violence has been a form of political negotiation in Kenya .

" Echoes of WAR: Dear Sifuna. Hello in Bukusu. 2027 Election will Echo the VIOLENCE of 2007. Ruto is where Kibaki was in 2007. We HATED Kibaki because of TAXES. We said "Kibaki MUST go!" Then Violence became the CURRENCY of negotiation amongst politicians, " he tweeted.
