The IEBC has assured the people of Ugunja that mechanisms have been put in place to ensure a free, fair, and credible by-election.
IEBC Vice Chairperson Fahima Araphat noted the commitment of the commission to peaceful elections and called upon the citizens to turn out in large numbers to vote.
She said they have done all the preparations to make sure that the elections are free, fair, and credible, and urged the registered voters to come out and vote without fear.
Commissioner Araphat, who addressed journalists at the IEBC's Ugunja constituency tallying centre in Ambira High School, stated that the commission had been assured by security agencies that everything was in place to ensure voters and polling officials were adequately protected.
She said security personnel would be deployed across all the 116 polling centres, tallying stations, and across the county to ensure safety.
The IEBC Vice chairperson further appealed for residents to protect the country's peace and unity during the electoral process.
She called on Kenyans in all the areas where the by-elections will be taking place to do what it takes to protect the country.
