IEBC RESUMES VOTER REGISTRATION

The Commission hereby notifies that Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) will restart today on Monday, 29th September 2025. This is as per its constitutional obligation under Article 88(4) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.

This registration is a critical step towards ensuring that all eligible Kenyans are able to help shape the future of the nation through democratic elections. It is particularly targeted at young adults who have recently turned 18, and at all citizens who have not registered before or need voter information updated.

Chairperson Erastus Edung Ethekon, HSC noted that as a lead-up to the next CVR exercise, the Commission has embarked on a series of preparatory measures so that the process is effective, participatory, and transparent. The preparatory measures are at the heart of laying a good foundation for a successful national rollout. They consist of:

Mapping of Registration Centres: Validation of both actual and planned centres so that there is accessibility across the country.
Stakeholder Engagements: Conducting consultative forums at constituency level to create awareness and encourage participation.
Geospatial Data Consolidation: Collecting data at constituency, county, and national levels to inform planning of resources.
Preparation of Kenya Integrated Election Management System (KIEMS) Kits: Setting up and testing KIEMS kits.
Gazettement of Officers: Formal appointment of registration officers as stipulated by law.
Training of Registration Personnel: Empowering field officers with skills required for efficient service delivery.
Packaging and Distribution of Materials: Sending the registration materials to all of the working regions well in time.
Data Protection Compliance: Drawing up of a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) to help in guaranteeing total copliance with data protection law.
Voter Education Activities: Conducting voter education activities in order to educate and engage the public.
"Registering eligible Kenyans at any IEBC Constituency Office, except where by-elections are taking place. Services provided include new registration, transfer of voter registration to another location, correction or update of voter details, and verification of voter registration status," Ethekon stated.
