The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has set a new date for the resumption of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).
In a gazette notice issued on Thursday, August 28, the commission announced the exercise will officially begin on Monday, September 29, 2025.
IEBC said the initiative will target Kenyans who have recently turned 18, citizens who have never registered, and voters seeking to update their details.
Ahead of the rollout, the commission is mapping out registration centres nationwide and holding stakeholder forums at the constituency level to boost awareness.
It is also consolidating geospatial data to guide planning, while Kenya Integrated Election Management System (KIEMS) kits are being configured and tested.
IEBC confirmed that registration officers have been appointed and will undergo training to ensure the process runs smoothly.
Eligible citizens will register at IEBC constituency offices, except in areas with ongoing by-elections. Services will include new registration, transfers, corrections, and inspection of details.
To qualify, a person must be a Kenyan citizen aged 18 or older with a valid ID or passport. They must not be registered elsewhere or have been convicted of an election offence in the last five years.
New registrants will provide personal and biometric details and receive an acknowledgement slip. However, the slip will not be required on election day.
