President William Ruto on Thursday, July 3, 2025, held bilateral talks with His Royal Highness Prince William, focusing on strengthening Kenya’s diplomatic and development ties with the United Kingdom.
In a statement shared after the meeting, President Ruto described the discussions as “fruitful,” adding that they touched on both regional and international matters affecting the two nations. He noted that the two leaders reaffirmed their shared vision for a prosperous and sustainable future.
“Our conversation was rooted in a mutual commitment to progress. We exchanged views on regional stability, global challenges, and how Kenya and the UK can collaborate more closely to create lasting solutions,” Ruto stated.
He reiterated Kenya’s desire to deepen cooperation with the UK in areas such as climate action, youth empowerment, and sustainable development.
“This partnership is vital not only for our people but also for the planet. We are determined to grow it further for the benefit of future generations,” he added.
The diplomatic engagement came shortly after President Ruto addressed global investors at the Kenya Investment Forum held at The Law Society in London on Tuesday, July 1. The forum, which ran parallel to the Africa Debate 2025, provided a platform to present Kenya’s key investment prospects in infrastructure, technology, clean energy, and agribusiness.
While speaking at the event, Ruto positioned Kenya as a rising economic hub in Africa, strategically placed to benefit from changing global trade dynamics.
“The shifts in global trade present us with new possibilities. Kenya is ready to lead the way in tapping into those opportunities, ensuring inclusive economic growth and unlocking our full potential,” he remarked.
He acknowledged that global economic uncertainty—driven by supply chain disruptions, rising tariffs, and geopolitical tensions—continues to impact developing economies. However, he assured stakeholders that Kenya remains a resilient and reform-focused market.
“Our approach is to continually enhance the ease of doing business through digitisation, regulatory reforms, and strategic partnerships,” he said.
In line with Kenya’s infrastructure development goals, President Ruto also toured King’s Cross Railway Station—one of the busiest and most technologically advanced rail hubs in the United Kingdom.
He noted that the visit offered valuable insights as Kenya seeks to modernise its railway system.
“The UK has built a strong, efficient railway network. We’re keen to borrow best practices as we work towards delivering a world-class public transport system back home,” Ruto explained.
According to him, an upgraded railway network in Kenya will not only ease transport but also bridge critical access gaps in healthcare, education, and economic opportunities, especially in rural areas.
