The government is investigating irregularities on the eCitizen platform following numerous complaints from users regarding failed transactions, duplicate charges, and delays in service delivery.
Several citizens have reported being charged for services they never received, with some transactions mysteriously disappearing without confirmation or refunds. These incidents have raised concerns about the platform’s reliability and security, especially as it remains the central gateway for accessing government services.
ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo acknowledged the issues during a press briefing, stating that a technical audit is underway to identify and resolve the glitches. He assured Kenyans that no personal data has been compromised and promised swift action against any officials or third parties found culpable of sabotage or malpractice.
The platform, which was introduced to streamline public service delivery, now faces mounting pressure to restore public trust and enhance its systems.
