JUBILEE ENDORSES MATIANG'I AS PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE

The Jubilee Party has officially endorsed the candidature of former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang'i for the presidency during the 2027 General Election, marking a new determination by the party to reclaim political relevance in the run-up to the next elections.
Speaking during the party's National Executive Committee meeting, the first since its National Delegates Conference, Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni said that Matiang'i's application to run for president on the party's ticket had been unanimously approved.

Mr Kioni also announced that Dr. Matiang'i had been appointed Deputy Party Leader, placing him at the centre of Jubilee's leadership structure.

“We have appointed Dr. Fred Matiang’i as our Deputy Party Leader going forward,” said Kioni, adding that the former CS would represent Jubilee “in the united opposition.”

The Secretary General said the meeting also took up vital questions on the structure and policy of the party, focusing attention on the improvement of grass-roots work.

The NEC also filled several vacant leadership positions: Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama was named Whip of the National Assembly, while Senator James Lomenen will serve as Senate Whip.

In solidarity, the party condoled with the family of Mama Ida Odinga, the wife of ODM leader Raila Odinga.

In addition, Mr. Kioni also hinted at a potential review of the party’s relationship with the Azimio la Umoja Coalition and cautioned that quitting the coalition could have “legal implications” to some members of Parliament.
