Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi has denied allegations that he staged his own abduction in a bid to evade arrest over ongoing land fraud charges.
Appearing before the Milimani Law Courts on Wednesday July 23, 2025, the legislator pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including publishing false information and conspiracy to defeat justice. The charges stem from a June 7 statement in which Koimburi, while admitted at Karen Hospital, claimed he had been kidnapped and tortured by unknown individuals.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) argued that Koimburi faked the abduction to avoid appearing in court over four land fraud cases pending at the Kiambu Law Courts.
Senior Principal Magistrate Zainab Abdul granted the MP release on a KSh 300,000 cash bail and ordered him to present himself for fingerprinting at the Nairobi Area Traffic headquarters.
The court set a pre-trial hearing for August 5, 2025.
Koimburi, who was flanked by his legal team, maintains that the charges are politically motivated and insisted he will prove his innocence in court.
