KABOGO DISMISSES CLAIMS OF TARGETED FIRING OF MT KENYA CEOS

Former Kiambu Governor and ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo has dismissed claims that President William Ruto is targeting CEOs from the Mt Kenya region for dismissal.
Kabogo's remarks come amid growing accusations from Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who has repeatedly alleged that top officials from the region are being systematically removed from government positions as part of a political purge. Gachagua has painted the dismissals as a broader scheme to sideline Mt Kenya leadership in national affairs.
In a subtle response to Gachagua's claims, Kabogo maintained that the appointments and dismissals within government are based on merit and performance, not ethnic or regional bias. He urged leaders to stop politicizing routine administrative decisions and instead focus on delivering services to Kenyans.
“The narrative that Mt Kenya is being targeted is misleading. The president has appointed capable leaders from the region, and service delivery should be our priority,” Kabogo said in a recent address.
His sentiments were echoed by Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku, who stated that Gachagua’s political woes were self-inflicted. “The president is not targeting Mt Kenya leaders. Gachagua’s fall is a result of his own actions,” Ruku said during a television interview.
Kabogo’s response adds to the widening rift between Ruto and his deputy, who has grown increasingly vocal over what he perceives as betrayal and political isolation by the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Despite the tension, Kabogo reaffirmed his support for the president and called for unity within the Mt Kenya region.
“Leadership is not about victimhood. It’s about performance and integrity,” he concluded.
