KRA EXTENDS WAIVER OF PENALTIES FOR LATE RETURNS, SETS NEW DEADLINES

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has extended its ongoing waiver of penalties and interest on late tax returns, offering relief to thousands of taxpayers across the country.
In a public notice issued on Monday, KRA urged all individuals and businesses with outstanding tax returns and accrued penalties to take advantage of the amnesty period and settle their obligations.
The authority stated that the waiver aims to promote voluntary compliance and support economic recovery by easing the financial burden on taxpayers.
The new deadline for applying for the waiver has been extended to July 5, 2025.
KRA emphasized that after the deadline, full penalties and interest will apply on any outstanding obligations. Taxpayers are encouraged to apply through the iTax platform or visit their nearest KRA office for assistance.
