KUCCPS LOWERS TVET APPLICATION FEES

Lowering the cost of applying to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has cut application fees from KSh 1,500 to KSh 500 in a bid to encourage more Kenyans to enrol. The application window for the September 2025 intake runs from August 8 to August 22 via the KUCCPS online portal. Alongside this, KUCCPS has launched an upgrade programme for teachers holding P1 or Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) certificates, enabling them to advance to the Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE).

Targeting registered Teachers Service Commission (TSC) educators, the initiative aims to boost the number of well-prepared teachers capable of delivering the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC), especially at the lower levels of learning. The flexible training can be undertaken at a Teacher Training College (TTC) of the applicant’s choice, starting this month or during the November–December school holidays. Online applications for the teacher upgrade programme opened on August 6 and will run continuously, with short breaks for processing, and an initial  deadline of August 20.
