Former Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has launched a scathing attack on President William Ruto, accusing him of being a “liar” and a “betrayer” after months of silence following his dismissal from the Cabinet.
Speaking on August 8, 2025, Machogu dismissed the President’s “bottom-up” economic agenda as a sham, claiming it had failed to deliver on promises of economic empowerment.
“Do you want me to tell you what has happened to the wheelbarrow these days? The wheelbarrow has burst and turned into scrap,” Machogu said, in a metaphorical jab at Ruto’s campaign symbol.
He alleged that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) “ship is sinking” and urged the Gusii community not to support the President in the 2027 polls. Instead, Machogu rallied support behind former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i for the presidency, adding that talks were ongoing with Professor Sam Ongeri to strengthen the political front.
Nyaribari Chache MP Zaheer Jhanda denied allegations of orchestrating Machogu’s removal from Cabinet, insisting, “I did not sack him; the President did. He knows why he was shown the door.”
