MAN IN NANDI STABS BROTHER-IN-LAW TO DEATH IN A DISPUTE OVER WIFE AND KIDS

A domestic dispute in Baraton, Nandi county, ended in tragedy after a man allegedly stabbed and killed his brother-in-law during a confrontation. Police identified the suspect as 38-year-old Daniel Kipkorir, who is accused of fatally attacking 34-year-old Geoffrey Kimutai.
The Monday, August 25 2025 incident followed a quarrel between Kipkorir and his wife, which spiralled into a violent altercation.
According to a report filed by Chemundu Assistant Chief Solomon Tarus, the dispute began earlier in the day when Kipkorir clashed with his 32-year-old wife. The confrontation reportedly escalated, prompting the woman to flee their marital home with the couple’s three children. She sought refuge at her father’s compound in Baraton, where her brothers, including the deceased, lived.
At about 6pm, Kipkorir allegedly arrived at the homestead armed with a knife, demanding custody of his children. His brothers-in-law immediately stepped in and attempted to block him, leading to a heated exchange.
Witnesses said the argument quickly turned violent when Kipkorir drew the knife and attacked Kimutai, stabbing him in the chest and left shoulder. Family members and neighbours who had gathered at the compound tried to intervene but were unable to save Kimutai. The injured man was rushed to Kapsabet Referral Hospital in critical condition, but doctors pronounced him dead on arrival, citing excessive bleeding as the cause.
His body was later transferred to White Crescent Hospital mortuary for preservation, with a post-mortem examination expected in the coming days. The killing triggered chaos in the village, with residents who had responded to the distress call descending on Kipkorir and assaulting him.
He sustained serious injuries before being rescued by good Samaritans and taken to White Crescent Hospital for treatment. Police officers arrested him at the facility while he was receiving medical attention. Nandi County security officials confirmed that Kipkorir is now in custody at Kapsabet Police Station. Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Chesumei Sub-County have opened inquiries into the case, with officers expected to record statements from witnesses and family members.
