A popular Mombasa-based TikToker known as Hon. Mosquito, whose real name is Shedrack Omondi Okindo, has been arrested over a viral video authorities say contains inciting and seditious remarks.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Okindo was apprehended in the Miritini area of Mombasa following a forensic analysis of the controversial clip shared on August 1, 2025. In the video, he allegedly issued threats, advocated for guerrilla-style resistance, and defended three former security officers currently under investigation.
A search at his residence led to the seizure of military-style combat gear, mobile phones, political documents, and a notebook bearing the phrase: “We are going to apply guerrilla resistance tactics – Justice to all freedom heroes.”
The DCI says the content of the video and materials recovered point to possible violations of public security laws. Okindo is currently in police custody and is expected to be arraigned in court.
His arrest comes amid growing concerns over the use of social media platforms to spread inflammatory content, with law enforcement stepping up efforts to curb incitement and threats to national stability.
