MOSES KURIA'S PATH TO REBELLION

In what looks like reading from a script of former Public Service CS ,Justin Muturi , Senior Presidential Advisor, Moses Kuria seemingly appears to be breaking ranks with President Ruto over the recent police brutality issues, extrajudicial killings and abductions.

Speculations of him switching to the opposition arose following his recent hint at vying for the Jubilee Party Secretary-General position.

In an exclusive interview with Citizen TV, the senior presidential advisor cleared the air concerning his political stance.

Kuria began by emphasizing the sacrifices he and his colleagues made to sell Ruto’s agenda during the 2022 campaigns. According to him, they endured intense persecution under former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime. Given that history, Kuria argued it would make no sense for him to abandon their hard earned victory .

Additionally, Kuria stated that his loyalty lies with Kenyans, not just the president. “I don’t work for Ruto,” he said. “This government doesn’t belong to him — it belongs to the people of Kenya. I’m in government because Kenyans put me here. It would be foolish to leave the people’s government simply because I don’t always agree with Ruto.”

Throughout the interview, he highlighted troubling issues like police brutality, extrajudicial killings, abductions, and enforced disappearances — signaling that despite his commitment to the government, he would not shy away from calling out its shortcomings.

"I am disappointed with the government’s handling of human rights and security issues, and I condemn abductions and extrajudicial (killings)," he maintained.

In the same spirit, Kuria visited, Boniface Kariuki, the unarmed mask vendor who was shot by police during the Tuesday protests .He pledged to support the victimised family and called for rapid reformations in the police unit.

"This act is indefensible, no matter the context. Coming soon after the cold-blooded murder of Albert Ojwang, this should be a wake‑up call for the urgent need for re‑orientation of our police , " Kuria stated while at the Kenyatta National Hospital on Monday,23rd.
