Mounting Pressure on Ruto as MPs Demand Refund in SHA Scandal

Naivasha Town MP Jane Kihara has called for the refund of money deducted from Kenyans, citing corruption within the procurement of Kenya's SHA system.

Tetu MP Geoffrey Wandeto echoed these concerns, stating that the collection of funds for the SHA system appears to be a scheme to defraud Kenyans.

Wandeto highlighted that the Auditor General's report revealed significant irregularities, including the absence of proper tendering processes and specifications.

Auditor General Nancy Gathungu's latest report further criticized the procurement process, noting that several laws were violated.

The system was acquired through an uncompetitive procedure, directly contravening the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act.

Gathungu emphasized that there was no value for money in the acquisition, raising questions about the transparency and accountability of the process.

The Kenya Kwanza government faces mounting pressure to address these issues and restore public trust in its financial management systems.
