MUDAVADI TO LEAD UDA CAMPAIGN IN MALAVA BY-ELECTION

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi is set to lead the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) campaign in the upcoming Malava Constituency by-election, signaling the ruling coalition’s high-stakes interest in retaining the seat.
Speaking during a meeting with over 100 elders representing the 29 Kabras sub-clans, Mudavadi emphasized unity and urged residents to avoid divisive clan politics. The two-day engagement, held on July 24–25, 2025, brought together community leaders to discuss the constituency's future and identify a strong candidate aligned with the Kenya Kwanza government’s development agenda.
“I will continue to act as a patron for Malava until a new MP is elected,” Mudavadi said, calling on elders to help nominate a trustworthy, principled leader who will work with the national government. He vowed to consult widely with youth, women, religious leaders, professionals, and business owners in the selection process.
The by-election follows the death of MP Malulu Injendi in February. Over 30 aspirants have shown interest in the seat, including his son, Ryan Injendi, Edgar Busiega Mwanga (DCP), Seth Panyako (UDP), and Caleb Sunguti (Roots Party). The competition within UDA is expected to intensify in the coming weeks.
Mudavadi’s involvement is seen as a strategic move to boost UDA’s chances and counter growing opposition interest, particularly from the DCP, which recently endorsed Mwanga for the seat.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is expected to announce the by-election date soon.
