Kiharu MP Expresses Shock Over Removal, Says He Was Not Consulted

Kiharu Member of Parliament (MP) Ndindi Nyoro has spoken out following his removal as the Chairperson of the Budget and Appropriations Committee in the National Assembly, saying he was neither informed nor consulted about the decision.

Addressing the media at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) on Tuesday, March 18, Nyoro said he learned about his ouster through media reports and had not received any official communication from the leadership of the ruling coalition.

"I was appointed to chair the Budget and Appropriations Committee after extensive consultations. I expected that any changes would follow the same process, but I was never consulted or even informed," Nyoro stated.

His removal comes amid a reshuffle in parliamentary leadership, which saw Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi take over the influential budget committee role. Atandi, a member of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), expressed gratitude to President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga for their support in his election.

Nyoro, a staunch ally of President Ruto, described his tenure as demanding but rewarding, noting that he worked long hours to ensure the proper allocation of public resources.

He thanked his Kiharu constituents for their unwavering support, saying their trust had enabled him to serve in a leadership position at the national level.

His removal has sparked debate in political circles, with analysts linking it to the ongoing power shifts within the ruling coalition.

The reshuffle also saw key allies of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua lose strategic parliamentary leadership positions, fueling speculation about internal wrangles within the Kenya Kwanza administration.

While the exact reasons behind Nyoro's ouster remain unclear, the move is seen as a significant development in the political realignments shaping Kenya's leadership ahead of the 2027 general election.
