Nigerian Prophet, who predicted Ruto's 2022 victory, Primate Ayodele, has warned former DP Rigathi Gachagua that his dream of clinching the presidency in 2027 will collapse , declaring the GenZs as the only loophole to oust President Ruto come 2027.
Ayodele, leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, said Gachagua stands no chance against President William Ruto, who he claimed will do everything possible to secure a second term. According to the prophet, only a candidate championed by Kenya’s Gen Z movement can unseat Ruto.
In a statement released through his media aide, Ayodele urged Gachagua to abandon his presidential ambitions and instead support the candidate backed by the younger generation.
“Kenya: the former deputy president coming to contest will not yield anything. Ruto is going to use all his power to return to his seat, even if he has to rig. It is only the Gen Zs that can get him out by bringing out a candidate,” Ayodele declared.
The cleric further advised Gachagua to “let go of his ambitions” and align himself with youth-supported leadership if he wants to remain politically relevant.
The remarks come days after Gachagua re-enforced his 2027 bid in an interview with a local TV station, promising to scrap the housing levy, hand over ongoing housing projects to counties, and refund Kenyans who have already made contributions. His announcement unsettled the United Opposition, where speculation is rife about a Kalonzo Musyoka–Fred Matiang’i ticket, with Gachagua playing the role of kingmaker.
Ayodele is no stranger to Kenyan politics. Ahead of the 2022 polls, he had predicted a William Ruto win, claiming Raila Odinga would be defeated in the first round. While some hailed him for “getting it right,” critics have previously dismissed his prophecies as mere theatrics.
Whether his latest warning will influence Gachagua’s resolve remains to be seen. But the prophecy adds a new twist to Kenya’s fast-heating 2027 succession politics. His prophecy also seems as an impetus to the Presidential bids of former CJ David Maraga and ex-CS Fred Matiang'i - each at some instance fronted by the GenZs.
Moreover, youthful Activist Boniface Mwangi, known for masterminding the GenZ revolutionary protests declared his Presidential bid on 27, August further complicating the equations.
