Tension flared outside Parliament on Tuesday after former UDA Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba was dramatically stopped from entering the Senate precincts despite claiming to have a court order directing her reinstatement.
Orwoba, who was expelled from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) earlier this year over her shifted allegiance to former DP Rigathi Gachagua, arrived at Parliament buildings in confidence demanding the Senate to readmit her.
She was however intercepted by security officers stationed at the entrance , who blocked her path demanding clarification on her documents. Orwoba protested loudly, accusing unnamed political rivals of orchestrating her ouster and vowing not to be silenced.
The standoff soon escalated as she attempted to force her way through, drawing the attention of onlookers and the media. Security personnel eventually whisked her away from the gates, a scene that has since gone viral on social media.
Meanwhile, UDA already filled the vacancy. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) gazetted Consolata Nabwire Wakwabubi as Orwoba’s replacement on August 15, 2025. A week later, Nabwire was officially sworn in as Senator during a ceremony presided over by Speaker Amason Kingi, sealing Orwoba’s exit from the Upper House.
With her seat now firmly occupied, Gloria Orwoba’s attempted return raises an even sharper question: will her legal stunts surmount UDA decision to rid her?
