Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has warned that public servants who insult President William Ruto’s government or engage in partisan politics will face immediate dismissal.
Speaking during a public address, Murkomen said the directive applies to chiefs, assistant chiefs, police officers, and all other public officers, stressing that it is “illegal and unconstitutional” for them to publicly make derogatory remarks against the President or chant political slogans while in service.
“Every Kenyan has the right to vote in private, but public officers must remain neutral and professional. If you want to engage in politics, resign first,” Murkomen stated.
The CS cited recent incidents, including a police officer’s public criticism of the government and performances by musician Samidoh that allegedly contained political undertones, as examples of conduct that will not be tolerated.
Murkomen emphasised that the policy is not limited to the current administration but will be enforced across all future governments to safeguard professionalism in the civil service.
