The Kenya Red Cross Wednesday evening evacuated a man who was left stranded by rising floodwaters in Kolati-Tula area of Tana River County.
In a statement by the aid agency, the victim had placed a number of distress calls after being pinned down by flash floods caused by the heavy rains that have ravaged much of the nation.
Rescue teams from Kenya Red Cross responded immediately to the distress calls and managed to reach the victim about 11:45 p.m. He was successfully evacuated and reunited with his family, it was confirmed.
In its X post, the Kenya Red Cross urged residents in flood-prone areas to remain vigilant and avoid crossing or wading through flowing waters.
"Residents should be safe, keep away from flooded areas, and do not cross flowing waters," the post said.
