President William Ruto has confirmed that the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) will be listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) through an initial public offering (IPO) before the end of 2025.
Speaking during the market opening ceremony at the London Stock Exchange, President Ruto said the move is part of his administration’s broader economic reforms aimed at revitalizing state corporations, attracting investment, and deepening capital markets.
“The Kenya Pipeline Company will be listed at the NSE this year. We are keen on unlocking the full potential of our public enterprises by opening them up to local and international investors,” Ruto announced.
KPC, a state-owned corporation responsible for the transportation and storage of petroleum products in Kenya and the region, is among the top-performing government agencies. In 2024 alone, it remitted KSh 10.5 billion in dividends to the National Treasury.
The listing is expected to improve transparency, enhance corporate governance, and inject new capital into KPC's operations, including its planned expansion into the regional LPG market.
Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has previously indicated that preparations for the IPO are in advanced stages, while KPC Managing Director Joe Sang recently confirmed that the company is readying itself for the public listing.
The KPC IPO is expected to be a landmark event in Kenya’s privatization agenda and a major boost for the country’s capital markets.
