RUTO'S RESPONDS TO CRITICISM FROM REV. MUTAHI

While echoing a message delivered by the PCEA Reverend Patrick Thegu Mutahi, during the burial of Isaac Ngugi, father of National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, President William Ruto embraced the incumbency upon leaders to use their terms well.

Rev. Mutahi blasted the political class specifically calling out the National assembly speaker Moses Wetangula accusing them of passing malicious laws and urging them to use their moment wisely.

“We cannot afford not to do the right things. Because of the shortness of our lives, those in leadership must use the limited time in office proactively because it is defined. We cannot afford to squander time because we are not very sure about tomorrow,” he said.

In his tribute, President Ruto said the sermon was a timely reminder for all leaders — from MCAs to governors and MPs — to make their tenure count.

“Thank you so much, our moderator, for the words you gave us so we can work hard. You reminded us that life is short, and because of that, everyone must do their part. If we are MCAs, we do our part; if we are governors, we do our part; if we are MPs, we do our part,” he told mourners.

Ruto stressed that purposeful leadership and collective responsibility would shape Kenya’s future, adding:

“All of us will make a contribution towards making this nation great, and I am very confident about the future of Kenya.”

Ngugi, who passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 4 at the age of 105, was remembered as a man of deep faith, sobriety, and moral discipline. Senior Reverend Kogu, who led him to salvation, said Ngugi consistently urged others to avoid habits he viewed as destructive.

The funeral brought together a significant gathering of political leaders, including Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, and Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo, among others.
