Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja held talks with Rwandan President Paul Kagame in Kigali, signaling a new chapter of cooperation between the two cities.
The meeting, part of Sakaja’s official visit to Rwanda, focused on strengthening ties in areas including youth empowerment, innovation, and sports development. The Governor was accompanied by a delegation that also engaged Rwanda Development Board CEO Jean-Guy Afrika, Sports Minister Nelly Mukazayire, and NBA Africa CEO Clare Akamanzi.
Sakaja lauded Kagame’s leadership and Rwanda’s transformation, expressing Nairobi’s interest in building partnerships that empower youth through talent development and innovation.
“This is the time for African cities to lead the continent’s transformation,” Sakaja said, emphasizing collaboration on stadium infrastructure, innovation hubs, and city-to-city exchanges.
The visit is seen as a step toward formalizing bilateral projects between Nairobi and Kigali, aligning with wider regional efforts to foster integration and sustainable urban development.
