Expressing concern over Kenya’s alleged support for the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Sudan claimed that Nairobi is preparing to once again host the paramilitary group.
Sudan appealed to Kenyan lawmakers to ensure that President Ruto respects the African Union's principle of “national sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of fellow African nations.”
“I trust your respected Parliament will uphold the spirit of Pan-Africanism and prevent Kenyan soil from being used to legitimize or shelter groups working to destabilize a neighboring African country,” stated Malik Agar, Sudan’s Vice President of the Transitional Sovereign Council, in a letter dated April 13, 2025.
Agar emphasized that Sudanese citizens are counting on Kenyan legislators to take the matter seriously.
He claimed that recent meetings in Nairobi with RSF members are aimed at creating a so-called “parallel government,” which he said undermines Sudan’s sovereignty and threatens the broader region’s stability.
Earlier this week, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi dismissed claims that Kenya has been aiding the RSF in its conflict with the Sudanese Armed Forces. Speaking to the BBC, Mudavadi said that Kenya’s role is purely that of a “neutral mediation center.”
Reiterating Kenya’s neutral stance in the Sudan conflict, Mudavadi explained that the RSF meeting in Nairobi was meant for internal discussions.
Meanwhile, international representatives, including those from the European Union and African Union, met in London on Tuesday—where Mudavadi was also present—and pledged hundreds of millions in aid to support Sudan.
