Police in Bomet County have launched a manhunt for a 27-year-old man accused of killing his wife, a 24-year-old teacher, following a domestic dispute in the Kiromwok area on Monday night.
According to Bomet County Police Commander Edward Imbwaga, the woman's body was discovered within their compound with deep cuts to the head and hand, injuries believed to have been inflicted using a panga. The scene was secured, and investigations are ongoing.
Preliminary reports indicate that the couple had a history of domestic disagreements. Relatives had previously attempted to mediate between them, but the conflict appears to have escalated fatally.
The suspect, Lenox Kipngeno Korir, reportedly fled the scene shortly after the incident. Police say efforts to locate him are underway, though the weapon used in the attack has not yet been recovered.
The body of the deceased has been moved to Longisa Hospital Mortuary. Authorities are urging members of the public with any information that could assist in locating the suspect to report to the nearest police station.
The incident has drawn attention to domestic violence issues within the region, with residents calling for greater awareness and timely intervention in family disputes.
