The U.S. Embassy in Kenya will remain closed on Friday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day, a national holiday in the United States.
Independence Day commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, when the thirteen American colonies declared their independence from British rule. It is marked across the U.S. with celebrations that include fireworks, parades, and patriotic displays.
The Embassy will resume normal operations on Saturday, July 5. U.S. citizens in need of emergency assistance are advised to contact the Embassy through its emergency hotline.
