US STRONGLY REJECTS MACRON’S PLAN TO RECOGNIZE PALESTINE AS A STATE

The Trump administration has issued a sharp rebuke to French President Emmanuel Macron following his announcement that France will officially recognize Palestine as a sovereign state during the upcoming UN General Assembly in September.
In a strongly worded statement, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio called the move “reckless” and accused Macron of undermining regional stability and peace efforts. “This decision only serves Hamas propaganda and is a slap in the face to the victims of October 7,” Rubio posted on X (formerly Twitter).
The U.S. also confirmed it will not participate in the UN-hosted two-state solution summit scheduled for later this month in New York, signaling a clear divergence from France’s diplomatic direction.
President Macron’s declaration positions France as the first major Western nation to formally recognize a Palestinian state — a bold move that has drawn mixed global reactions. While Palestinians have welcomed the announcement as a step toward justice and statehood, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu denounced it as a “grave mistake,” warning that it rewards terrorism and jeopardizes Israeli security.
