Billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his fiancée, journalist and pilot Lauren Sánchez, have arrived in Venice, Italy, for their highly anticipated three-day wedding celebration.
The couple touched down on Wednesday, June 25, via helicopter from their $500 million superyacht Koru, anchoring the start of their festivities with a glamorous entrance by private water taxi to the luxurious Aman Venice hotel. Sánchez stunned in a sleek black gown, while Bezos opted for a relaxed yet stylish look in a dark polo and white pants.
Over 200 celebrity guests are expected, including Oprah Winfrey, Kim and Khloé Kardashian, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mick Jagger, and Tom Brady, arriving on more than 90 private jets. The wedding schedule features a welcome event at Madonna dell’Orto, a ceremony at San Giorgio Maggiore, and a grand reception at the historic Arsenale.
Despite the glamour, the event has stirred local protests over elitism and over-tourism. In response, the couple pledged €3 million to lagoon restoration and UNESCO heritage efforts and encouraged guests to donate to Venetian charities in place of gifts.
The celebration will continue through June 28, making Venice the center of global attention this week.
