MWINGI SCHOOL LEARNERS LEFT IN THE COLD AS HEAVY RAINS WREAK HAVOC

Dozens of learners in Mwingi have been left without classrooms after heavy rains pounded the region, leaving a trail of destruction in one of the local schools. The downpour, which lasted several hours, weakened school structures, causing walls to collapse and roofs to be blown away.

School officials say the damage is extensive, with at least three classrooms completely destroyed, forcing students to seek shelter under trees and verandas. "It’s heartbreaking to see young learners stranded like this. We are in urgent need of help," a concerned teacher said.

Parents, too, have raised alarm over the situation, worried that their children’s education will be severely disrupted. "We were already struggling with limited resources, and now this. Where will our children learn from?" one parent lamented.

Local authorities have pledged to assess the damage and find a temporary solution, but as the rainy season continues, fears remain about the structural integrity of other buildings in the school. Some learners have been advised to stay home until a safer learning environment is secured.
