Kenyan rapper Stevo Simple Boy has announced his separation from Brenda after DNA test results reportedly established that he is not the biological father of their son, Dragon Junior.
In a statement released on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, the musician confirmed that their relationship had come to an end, describing the findings as difficult to come to terms with.
“Following the DNA test results, I wish to officially announce that Brenda and I are no longer together as a couple,” Stevo said.
“The results have been difficult to process, but I have chosen to handle this matter with dignity and respect for everyone involved.”
The announcement was accompanied by a video showing the rapper receiving the results from Dr Peter Ngumba, who explained that the DNA profiles submitted under the names Stephen Otieno Senior and Stephen Otieno Junior showed mismatches at 11 genetic loci tested.
“Based on the DNA profile generated from the samples submitted of Stephen Otieno Senior and Stephen Otieno Junior, Stephen Otieno, you are not the biological father; mismatches were observed in 11 samples tested,” Ngumba explained.
Stevo subsequently thanked Microafia Healthcare for conducting the test and providing the results, while asking his fans and the public to respect his privacy as he navigates the personal setback.
“I sincerely appreciate Microafia Healthcare for conducting the DNA test and providing the results. Thank you for your professional service,” he added.
Despite the development, the rapper maintained that he would continue concentrating on his music career and working towards a better future.
“My focus remains on my music, my career, and building a better future,” he stated.
The announcement follows weeks of speculation surrounding Dragon Junior's paternity, with the controversy gaining momentum in September after Stevo's former manager, Geoffrey Machabe, publicly claimed to be the child's biological father.
Machabe, a gospel artist, made the allegation during a phone interview on Oga Obinna's Riba Show, where he claimed that Brenda had been his girlfriend before she began a relationship with Stevo.
According to Machabe, he had given Stevo what he described as a “through pass” to date Brenda, alleging that he and Brenda continued their romantic relationship secretly even after she became involved with the rapper.
Machabe's remarks generated widespread online discussion. He later apologised and temporarily withdrew his claims following criticism.
Stevo had also spoken about his doubts concerning the child's paternity, acknowledging that questions about whether he was the biological father had troubled him.
In an interview that circulated online on October 20, the musician explained that he had decided to pursue a DNA test rather than continue relying on speculation.
“Uchunguzi sasa ni DNA,” he said, indicating that testing was the way to establish the truth.
The rapper had previously indicated that he would seek reimbursement for the financial support and expenses he had incurred while raising the child if the results established that he was not the biological father. However, the available statements do not establish whether he has formally initiated any reimbursement proceedings.
Content creator 2Mbili reportedly offered to finance the DNA test after the allegations became public, paving the way for the test that has now brought the dispute into the spotlight.
The development has added to a growing online debate about paternity, trust and accountability in relationships, particularly after a similar controversy involving Kenyan club host Ciggie Johnson earlier in October.
Johnson's case attracted attention after he questioned the paternity of a 12-year-old daughter he had raised from birth. His child's mother reportedly challenged the DNA findings, alleging that the results had been doctored and calling for another test.
The two cases have prompted sharply divided reactions among social media users, with some expressing sympathy for the men while others have questioned the decision to turn deeply personal family disputes into public spectacles.
Some online commentators have also used the controversies to advocate for DNA testing at birth, arguing that early confirmation of biological parentage could prevent future disputes. Others have raised concerns about the emotional consequences of public paternity allegations, particularly for children caught in the middle.
Stevo's own disclosure has similarly attracted criticism from some users who suspect that the controversy could be driven by publicity, while others have expressed concern for Dragon Junior and the impact of the dispute on the child.
The rapper and Brenda had previously unveiled their son's face during a ticketed event at Alfajiri Meadow, a move that also attracted mixed reactions online. Dragon Junior was additionally reported to have secured a brand ambassador deal with a phone-selling company.
Stevo's latest statement, however, focused on confirming the end of the relationship and asking for privacy rather than engaging in further public accusations.
For now, Stevo says he intends to move forward by concentrating on his music and career, as the controversy continues to fuel conversations about paternity and the boundaries between celebrity life and family privacy.
