Kenyan socialite and entrepreneur Huddah Monroe has defended her decision to stay away from romantic relationships with Kenyan men, insisting that her personal preferences should not be interpreted as hatred towards them.
The outspoken businesswoman ,born, Alhuda Njoroge ,sparked renewed debate after addressing questions about her apparent dislike of Kenyan men during an interactive session with her followers on Instagram Stories on Sunday, October 25, 2026.
Responding to a fan who questioned what Kenyan men had done to her, Huddah dismissed suggestions that she harboured resentment towards them, pointing to her own family background as evidence.
“My dad is Somali My mom is Kenyan My brothers are Kenyan Why would I hate Kenyan men? I wouldn’t marry or date them doesn’t mean I hate them,” she stated.
Despite the clarification, Huddah maintained her position on relationships, previously suggesting that she would rather remain unmarried than settle down with a Kenyan man. She has also ruled out having children with local men, making it clear that her romantic preferences lie elsewhere.
Her latest remarks have brought renewed attention to her previous comments about approaching her in public, where she expressed frustration with men who initiate conversations through unsolicited compliments and casual familiarity.
The socialite indicated that she prefers men who respect personal boundaries and seek permission before engaging her in conversation.
She also raised concerns about accepting financial assistance from Kenyan men, arguing that such gestures could later be used to demand emotional commitment or influence personal decisions.
In one of her remarks, she explained:
"Hakuna pesa naogopa kukula pesa ya mwanaume Mkenya; huwa naona huyo mwanaume anaweza nitafuta juu nilikula pesa yake."
Her position on Kenyan men comes alongside broader criticism of the country's economic environment and the challenges facing people trying to establish businesses and earn a living.
Huddah has previously expressed feeling that she was born in the wrong country, questioning the treatment of entrepreneurs and street hawkers while criticising the economic pressures affecting ordinary Kenyans.
She has also declared that she does not wish to be buried in Kenya, further highlighting her dissatisfaction with the country despite maintaining that her criticism is not directed at its people.
Her comments have, however, attracted mixed reactions, with some social media users questioning her repeated criticism of Kenya while others have interpreted her remarks as an expression of personal preferences and dissatisfaction with the country's business environment.
The controversy is not the first time Huddah has attracted attention for her views on relationships. In July 2025, she dismissed suggestions that Kenyan celebrities had failed to win her romantic interest after a fan questioned why none had managed to have a child with her.
“I do not date celebs. Not Kenyan ones, especially,” she responded.
Interestingly, her romantic history has previously attracted considerable public attention, particularly her association with veteran Kenyan rapper Jackson Ngechu Makini, popularly known as Prezzo.
In August 2024, Huddah revisited her teenage years, revealing that she had run away from home for two years and spent part of that period in the company of the musician.
“Adolescent life… Despite that, my rebellious ass—I was a wild child! I ran away from home for 2 years, galavanting Nairobi streets, some months with Prezzo,” she revealed.
She also recounted how her mother took her to Kenyatta National Hospital at the age of 16 to educate her about the consequences of sexual activity after noticing her growing interest in boys.
“How mothers know you are looking at boys is also wild. My mom took me to Kenyatta Hospital to see people with HIV/AIDS. She said it’s coz of sex, and my 16-year-old self was traumatised,” Huddah said.
She further recalled her mother's advice encouraging her to become independent while remaining responsible for her decisions.
“She said, ‘You are grown now, I can no longer be there to take care of you, my daughter, go out there, conquer the world, be great & protect yourself,’” she added.
In 2014, Huddah also described Prezzo as her first sexual partner and referred to him as her one true love, although the rapper publicly denied ever dating her. The two later appeared to have reconciled, with Huddah announcing that he would attend one of her parties.
Both personalities rose to regional prominence through the Big Brother Africa franchise, with Prezzo finishing as first runner-up in the 2012 Stargame edition before Huddah represented Kenya in the 2013 The Chase season.
Huddah was also linked to Tanzanian singer Juma Jux in 2022 after travelling to Tanzania to feature in one of his music videos. Their public interactions generated speculation about a possible romantic relationship, but she subsequently dismissed the suggestions, describing their association as a professional engagement that operated on a project basis.
Her romantic interests have also extended beyond East Africa. In November 2023, Huddah announced her engagement to a Persian man, further reinforcing her publicly expressed preference for relationships outside Kenya.
Beyond her entertainment career, Huddah has established herself as a beauty entrepreneur through Huddah Cosmetics, which she launched in 2016. She has since expanded her commercial interests into fashion, skincare and other ventures, building a considerable presence in the regional beauty and digital business industries.
